(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's soccer team fell behind, and were unable to mount a comeback, as the visiting Racers of Northwestern Ohio won their WHAC matchup 4-1 Wednesday evening at Lake Trust Stadium.
The Racers would score in the 31st minute, and added a second in the 43rd minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Cleary made some halftime adjustments, and grew more into the game, but the Racers would strike on a counter-attack to take a 3-0 lead. Pushing to still try and get on the scoreboard, the Cougars sent numbers forward, and Lesman Morazan beat a defender up the right side and centered a cross to find the foot of captain Liam Coyle who shot the ball into the net, scoring his first goal of the season. Unfortunately for Cleary, that would be the last chance, and the Racers added the insurance gaol in the 89th minute to take the game 4-1.
Austin Freemire suffered the loss in goal, making 6 saves on 10 shots faced. UNOH outshot Cleary 20-6, and also held a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks. Lesman Morazan's assist was his third on the season.
Cleary drops to 4-6-3 overall, 1-3-2 in the WHAC. The Cougars will be back at Lake Trust Stadium this Saturday, October 14, when they host the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils for Homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
