(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar ACHA D1 hockey team picked up a non-conference victory over the visiting Kent St. Golden Flashes Friday evening at 140 Ice Den.
Ben Gledhow would score the first period's only goal on the power play, when teammate Jonny Gardiner centered a pass for Gledhow to one-time, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. After two Golden Flashes goals, Gledhow scored his second goal of the game to equalize, this time with assists from Wes Smith and Derry MacBeth, to make the score 2-2 after two periods. In the third period, Jonny Gardiner would score the game-winning goal, with an assist from Ben Gledhow with just under 5 minutes remaining in the game to secure the victory for the Cougars.
Tyler Krasofsky earned the victory between the pipes, as he allowed 2 goals, while making 21 saves. Ben Gledhow now has 33 points on the season to lead Cleary, and his 14 goals are good for second on the team.
Cleary improves to 8-18. The Cougars will be back in action next weekend when they take on the Rochester Warriors in a WHAC two-game series. Cleary will host Rochester at 140 Ice Den on Friday, February 10. The puck is scheduled to drop at 8:30 PM.
