(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars started off well in both games, but couldn't maintain the pace, as the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils swept the Cleary Cougar ACHA D1 hockey team this weekend.
In Game 1 at Lawrence Tech: Jonny Gardiner got the Cougars on the board first, as he scored his first goal of the game, with assists from Dalton Cummings and Ben Gledhow. The Blue Devils answered five minutes later on the power play to tie the game at 1-1. Lawrence Tech would take the lead on another power play goal, but the Cougars answered back just a minute later when Gardiner scored his second goal of the game, with assists from Ben Gledhow and Colby Krupp, to tie the game at 2-2. The third period was all Blue Devils, as the hosts scored early, and then the dagger late to win the game 4-2.
Koby Kebbe took the loss, allowing 4 goals on 29 shots, while making 25 saves.
In Game 2 vs. Lawrence Tech: Jonny Gardiner scored his thrid goal of the series, with assists from Ben Gledhow and Colby Krupp, but it came too late for the Cougars as Lawrence Tech had already built a 3-0 lead. The visiting Blue Devils scored twice while shorthanded in the second period, and scored three power play goals after Gardiner got Cleary on the board to win the game 6-1.
Koby Kebbe made 45 saves on 51 shots on goal to take the loss in net.
