Hoelscher's Historic Career Ends at NAIA National Meet
(Asheville, NC)-- The Cleary University track & field team had one student-athlete qualify for the NAIA Championship meet, and her season ended one race early, as Samantha Hoelscher would fall just short of the 400 meter hurdles finals on Wednesday.
Hoelscher, a senior from Maria Stein, Ohio, finished in 25th in the prelims of the 400 meter hurdles, with a time of 1:03.17. The top-8 qualify for Friday's final race.
Hoelscher became the first Cougar in Cleary's track & field history to qualify for the national meet twice, and is the only person to be named two-time All-WHAC in Cleary's young track & field history. Last season, Hoelscher also qualified for the NAIA Championship meet in the 400 meter hurdles, where she finished in 19th place in the prelims.
Hoelscher will leave Cleary as one of the most decorated student-athletes in the school's history. In addition to being a two-time Second-Team All-WHAC runner in the 400 meter hurdles, she is also a two-time Second-Team All-WHAC in women's basketball, where she will leave the program as the all-time leading scorer, rebounder, and is tied for first in steals.
