Wrestling's Season Comes to an End at WHAC Championships
(Rochester, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar wrestling team made the trip to Rochester for the WHAC Championships, and saw their season come to an end on Saturday.
In the 133 lb. Weight Class, Ryan Weaver lost his first match on a technical fall 15-0 to Siena Heights' Randy Frailey. In the consolation bracket, Weaver suffered a defeat by fall in 22 seconds to lose his second round matchup. Weaver would still make it to the 5th place match, where he would get a rematch with Frailey, where he would lose by fall in 1:46.
In the 149 lb. Weight Class, Indiana Tech's Nick Gates pinned Anthony Wilson in 1:34 in the opening match. Wilson would lose his consolation round matchup to Rochester with a pin 1:40 to bow out of the tournament.
In the 165 lb. Weight Class, Zander Bradsher was pinned by Rochester's Julius Polk in 1:40. Bradsher would lose his consolation round matchup to Cornerstone, suffering a pin in 2:19.
In the 285 lb. Weight Class, Roberto Perez suffered a pin defeat in the first round to Indiana Tech's Braydon Erb in 4:58. Perez would get a bye in the consolation round, and earned a spot in the 5th place matchup, where he defeated Siena Heights' Nathan Burns by major decision by a score of 17-4, thus earning 5th place in the tournament.
