(Lima, OH)-- The Cleary Cougar men's soccer team was on the road against one of the WHAC's best, as they travelled to take on the (RV) UNOH Racers Wednesday afternoon in Lima, Ohio.
The Racers would get behind the Cougar defense in the 23rd minute, forcing Austin Freemire to leave his box to try and win the ball. Unfortunately for the Cougars, the Racers won that footrace, drawing a penalty and a yellow card on Freemire. UNOH converted the ensuing pk, and doubled their lead less than two minutes later. UNOH added a third in the 34th minute, and then took a 3-0 lead over Cleary into the half.
The second half ended up going similarly to the first, as the hosts posted four more goals before the 70th minute to take a 7-0 lead, which they would maintain through the end of the contest.
Austin Freemire suffered the loss in goal, making 4 saves on 11 shots faced.
The loss drops Cleary's record to 7-2 overall, 1-1 within the WHAC. Cleary will look to rebound on Saturday, September 27, when they host the Wolverines of UM-Dearborn. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.
