D3 Hockey Splits Series With Concordia
(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar D3 hockey team split their series with the Concordia University Cardinals this weekend.
In Game 1 at CUAA: Cleary scored the first four goals of the game to take a 4-0 lead into the 3rd period. Zach Eakes scored first, with assists from Paxton Cowan and Landend Horetski in the 1st period. Joe Sherman scored in the 2nd period, with an assist from Ben Kozar to make the score 2-0. Brady Meyer scored the third goal, while Ben Kozar scored, with an assist from Nowell Snarney. Concordia would add two goals late, but the Cougar lead would be too much to overcome.
Kevin Berg earned the win, allowing 2 goals while making 45 saves.
In Game 2 vs. CUAA: Cleary struck first in the 2nd period, when Logan Porter scored, with assists from Ben Kozar and Wayne Taiman, to make the score 1-0. Still in the 2nd period, the Cougars added a power play goal when Nowell Snarney scored, with an assist from Quinn O'Connor. Concordia would narrow the gap on a power play later in the period, tied the game in the 3rd, and forced overtime. In overtime, the Cardinals were able to capitalize on the 3-on-3 action, and scored the gamewinning goal with 3:47 left.
Kevin Berg suffered the loss in goal, allowing 3 goals while making 60 saves in the game.
