Player Outlook
Joining the Cleary program will be almost like coming home for Paxton as he has grown up and played hockey in the Livingston area for much of his youth. He’s looking to come in and learn/develop as much as possible and take advantage if the opportunity presents itself. As he gets acclimated, he will be able to rely on his work ethic as well as being a supportive and good teammate.
Paxton is looking forward to getting started on his degree as well and looks to the smaller class sizes to help him get the most out of his time spent in school. He will also be joining a few ex-teammates of his from his younger days so there will be some natural chemistry right off the bat. Ultimately, Paxton would like to be a player that can be leaned on to perform in the keymoments of the game and help to push the program to the next level.
Coach’s Thoughts
Much like Derry MacBeth, I have known Paxton for quite some time. He’s got great character, work ethic and fits the bill for what we are looking for from our players. There will be an adjustment period but I know Paxton will put everything he’s got into growing as a player and doing things the right way. He’s a big body, versatile player that will not be afraid to go into the dirty areas when he has to. He is comfortable playing up front as a forward and can also jump back on D, that’s a big asset from my perspective. We have had quite a few players take huge strides in terms ofdevelopment over our first two seasons and I think Paxton will follow that path.
What’s Paxton’s favorite part of hockey?
“It has to be the camaraderie between all the guys in the room and the coaches. It’s truly like a brotherhood and I really enjoy that.”
Camaraderie has been a common theme amongst these new recruits, we hope to see a very tight knit group next season.
Please look for our next player profile release and as always GO COUGARS!
