Cleary Esports Competes in WHAC's Inaugural Conference Tournament
(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars esports team helped make history, as they competed in the WHAC's first ever conference tournament, hosted by Aquinas College this past Saturday in Grand Rapids.
The 7 teams participating had played the other teams in the conference twice each to get seeded for this tournament, which was a double-elimination bracket. Cleary came into the tournament having earned the #3 seed after going 8-4 against the other WHAC teams in regular season action, and faced off against #6 seed Concordia in the opening round. The Cougars would win 3-1 against the Cardinals to advance to the semi-finals against #2 seed Indiana Tech, but the Warriors would win 3-1, sending Cleary to the consolation bracket. #5 seed Lourdes was waiting, and sent Cleary home with their second defeat, as the Gray Wolves won 3-2.
#2 seed Indiana Tech would go on to defeat #4 seed Lawrence Tech in the Grand Finals, claiming the inaugural championship. For the WHAC's release of the tournament, you can go to https://www.whac.net/article/6004, which includes the complete results from every match on the day.
Congratulations to Coach Erickson and the entire Cougar Rocket League team on a successful first season!
