(Southfield, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's soccer was on the road to take on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils Saturday evening, and came up short, falling by a 2-0 score.
Lawrence Tech would get on the board in the 7th minute, after a corner kick found the head of a Blue Devil, who successfully redirected the ball into the net, to make the score 1-0. LTU kept the pressure on, and added a second goal in the 37th minute when a shot hit the cross bar and fell favorable to LTU for the rebound, making the score 2-0.
The defense would prevent further damage in the second half, and the Cougar offense was able to get forward, as Cleary earned two corner kicks, but they did not lead to goals. Lawrence Tech would hold on and hand Cleary a 2-0 loss in the game.
Sara Mecomber earned the loss in goal, making 3 saves on 5 shots faced.
The loss drops the Cougars' record to 4-7-1 overall, 0-4-1 in the WHAC. Cleary will return to the friendly confines of Lake Trust Stadium on Wednesday, October 8, when they host the Madonna Crusaders. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
