Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight After Dominant Performance

(Wyoming, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's soccer team was on the road Wednesday afternoon on the prowl for their third consecutive win, and after defeating the host Grace Christian Tigers 5-0, the Cougars accomplished that feat.

After a slow start where they dominated possession, but were still looking for the breakthrough, substitute Taylor Franco came on and made an immediate impact.  Natalia Mele sent a pass into the middle of the field for Evalyn Cole, who sent a through ball for Franco behind the defense, and Franco's shot was pure to put the Cougars up 1-0.  Just five minutes later, the Cougars doubled their lead when Evalyn Cole sent a shot from the left side the curled just inside the post and into the side netting to make the score 2-0.  Cleary would hold that lead into the second half.

In the second half, Ashley Stover would score her first goal in the 51st minute with an assist from Shayne Krystyniak to make the score 3-0.  In the 63rd minute, Shayne Krystyniak reversed their roals for Cleary's third goal, as Krystyniak scored her third goal in the last two games, with an assist from Ashley Stover, to extend the Cleary lead to 4-0.  In the 65th minute, Morgan Vanos scored the dagger to give the Cougars a 5-0 lead.

Bella Marsh would earn the victory in goal and improves to 3-1 on the season.  She combined with Kaylee Backers to earn a shutout in goal.  Cleary outshot GCU 29-1 in the game, and forced 18 saves from the Tigers goalkeeper.

Cleary has now won three games in a row, and will look to make it four in a row on Saturday, September 13, when they travel to Spring Arbor to take on the Cougars.  That game is set to begin at 3:00 PM.
