(Howell, MI)-- It was a very windy day, and the visiting Bethel Pilots found a way to navigate the weather better than the Cleary women's lacrosse team, as the Pilots would go on to win 19-3 at Lake Trust Stadium.
Bethel would gradually build an early lead, as they held the Cougars scoreless in the first quarter, while taking a 4-0 lead through the opening 15 minutes. Bethel would score first in the second quarter, but Mallory Tognetti scored from a free position shot to cut the deficit to 5-1. The Pilots would add three more goals before Natalie Busen scored the final goal of the half to make the score 8-2.
The third quarter was all Bethel, as the Pilots expanded their lead to 14-2, and into the fourth quarter, that lead would continue to grow to make it 17-2 before Natalie Busen scored her second goal of the game, assisted by Mallory Tognetti, to make the score 17-3. Bethel added two more goals before the final horn sounded.
Cleary drops to 2-9, 1-7 in WHAC play, and will take on the #1 ranked Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Saturday, April 16. The game will honor this year's senior class, and is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM at Lake Trust Stadium.
