Women's Lacrosse Bounces Back With Rout of Rochester
(Brighton, MI)-- After suffering an opening day loss to Alma last Friday, the Cleary Cougar women's lacrosse team responded in a big way, as they dominated the visiting Rochester Warriors 23-0 in a non-conference game at Legacy Center Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars cleaned up the stat sheet, as they had the better numbers in shots, turnovers, turnovers caused, ground balls, and draw controls. The defense was stellar, as they only allowed three shots on goal, and Kennedy Stilson made all three saves, to help the team earn a shutout victory.
Emily Santana got things going right away for the Cougars with a goal just 68 seconds into the action, and she would find the back of the net four more times. Natalie Busen led the Cougars attack with seven goals and two assists. Mallory Tognetti added three goals and four assists. Nine out of the 11 players that played for Cleary would score.
Cleary will next be in action next Thursday, February 24, when they travel to Kalamazoo College to take on the Hornets. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
