Jamey Lobdell was named the 2nd head coach in Cleary softball history on Monday, July 10, 2023.
Jamey Lobdell finished his first season as a Cougar assistant coach during the 2022-23 season. Prior to his time at Cleary, Lobdell was an assistant coach for seven seasons at NCAA D2 Saginaw Valley State University, where he primarily worked with the infielders and hitters. Lobdell and the Cardinals were named the NCAA Division 2 Statistical Champions for having a team fielding percentage of .982 during the 2022 season, an award given to the team for committing the fewest errors. The Cardinals won at least 28 games in each full season Lobdell was on staff, including 36+ win seasons in 2017 and 2022. During the 2020 COVID shortened season, the Cardinals were 16-2 before the season was canceled.
He also spent two seasons at NCAA D3 Olivet College for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. During his time at Olivet, the team set the program record for victories, and advanced to MIAA postseason play in each of his two seasons. Lobdell has been a coach for close to 30 years.
