(Lima, OH)-- The Cleary Cougar softball team made the trip to Lima, Ohio to take on the Racers of UNOH in a makeup series, and the Racers would take both games.
In Game 1: UNOH scored twice in the 2nd, and three more times in the 5th to take a 5-0 lead, and held on to win the game by that score in seven innings. Osheiauna Phifer went 2/4, while Mia Rzepka , Izzy Easton, and Maddie Campbell each posted a hit for the Cougars.
Sonya Terleckyj suffered the loss in a complete game, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits and striking out 3.
In Game 2: UNOH dominated game two, scoring runs in all but the 2nd inning to take the game 8-0 in 5 innings. Cleary was held hitless in the game. Mercedes Cole would suffer the loss, allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on 11 hits, while striking out 3 in 4.2 innings pitched.
Cleary drops to 15-34, 4-17 in the WHAC, and will conclude their season on Sunday, May 1, when they make up the rest of game 2 in the series with Lawrence Tech that was originally scheduled for April 24. The game will resume in the bottom of the 3rd, with Cleary trailing 3-0, at 1:00 PM.
