Men's and Women's Cross Country Opens Season at GRCC Raider XC Invite

(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's cross country teams were in action for the first time this year, as they ran in the GRCC Raider XC Invite on the campus of Calvin College Friday morning.
In the Men's 8K Meet:
- Ben Iobe earned a 7th place finish in his first collegiate race, with a time of 29:46.2
- Finishing in 11th place was Hunter Anderson, who ran a 30:09.4
- Running a 30:26.7 was Preston Mackenzie, who finished in 12th place
- Noah Blondke claimed 14th place after running 32:24.0 in his first collegiate race
- Mason Wildie ran a 34:34.4 to finish in 18th
- Devin Mackenzie ran a 34:55.7 to finish in 19th
- Logan Betke finished in 21st with a time of 39:08.9
As a team, Cleary claimed 41 points and finished in 2nd place out of qualifying teams.
In the Women's 5K Meet:
- Leading the way was Rylie Bjorkman, who posted a time of 25:06.3 to finish in 31st
- Kiera Smith ran a 29:36.3 to finish in 37th
Cleary did not enter enough runners to field a team score.
The Cougars will be back in action on Friday, September 19, when they run in the LCC Invitational at Grand Woods Park.
