Wrestling Opens 2025-26 Season at Pepsi Patriot Open
(Williamsburg, KY)-- The Cleary Cougar wrestling team kicked off their 2025-26 season in Kentucky Saturday, as they competed in the Pepsi Patriot Open, hosted by the University of the Cumberlands.
In 141 lb Fr: Nico Pasiensza dropped his only match by a 9-6 decisionto Connor Blessing of Rio Grande
In 149 lb Fr: Preston Auld would win his opening match over Lindsey Wilson's Hassan Ali by a 5-4 decision. Auld would then lose his second match to Boedi Kirkland of Montreat by a technical fall. Bobby Patrick would lose his opening match, but won by a fall in 1:07 over Andrew College's representative. Patrick would suffer a 15-9 decision defeat in his third match.
In 157 lb Fr: Dontarris Wesby would suffer a loss in his opening match by fall, and Jack Gruno would lose his match by a 9-7 decision.
In 184 lb Fr: Naziah Rice would suffer a pair of fall defeats.
In 125 lb Open: Jordan Rodriguez would go 3-1 on the day. He would earn a fall victory over Marian's Preston Haines in 5:38 in his opening match. He then won by a 6-3 decision over Cameron Meier from Campbellsville. In his third match, he won against Elijah Valencia from Cumberlands by a 2-1 decision. In his final match, Rodriguez would lose a major decision to Cole Hunt of Montevallo by a 17-4 score.
In 157 lb Open: Louden Stradling would be forced to withdraw from the event
In 165 lb Open: Justin Major would drop his opening match by a 11-4 decision, and lost his second match by a 7-1 decision. Wyatt Clements would earn a victory via fall in his first match in 6:24, but would lose his second match by a fall. Ben Blyveis would drop his first match 14-9, and would suffer a fall loss in his second match.
In 285 lb Open: Tunde Oroye would suffer a loss in his first match via a 9-3 decision, and then a second loss by a fall.
