Cougars Wrestle in Albion Open

(Albion, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar wrestling team continued their 2022 campaign Sunday, as they participated in the Albion College Open.
- Ryan Weaver went 1-2 in the 133 lb. division. After losing his opening round matchup, Weaver would earn a 5-3 decision over Cornerstone's Thomas Zielinksi. In Weaver's next match, he would be eliminated via a decision by a 14-9 margin.
- Logan Ladach also went 1-2 in the 141 lb. division. After losing his first match via a pin, and earning a bye in the consolation bracket, he would win his consolation round 2 match over Cornerstone's Dane Wurster by a 7-2 decision. Unfortunately, Ladach would have to declare a medical forfeith in his final match of the day.
- Anthony Wilson went 0-2 on the day, losing both of his matches in a 141 lb. division.
- Zander Bradsher went 0-2 on the day, losing both matches in the 165 lb. division.
- David Emch had a good day in the 174 lb. division, going 2-2. He would lose his first round matchup by an 8-2 decision. After earning a bye in the consolation bracket, Emch pinned Austin Rheyne of Otterbein Colllege in 1:52, then pinned Jimmy Thomas of Hiram College in 2:36 to advance to the consolation round 4. Emch's day would come to an end after suffering a 6-4 decision loss in round 4.
- Johnathan Keers went 1-2 on the day in the 285 lb. (Heavyweight) division. Keers would lose his opening round matchup, earn a bye in the consolation bracket, and pinned Brendan Mahar of Cornerstone in 3:53 to advance to round 3. Keers would get pinned in round 3 to be eliminated.
As a team, Cleary finished with 10 points earned, to finish in 15th place.
