Cougars Earn Sweep in Wrestling Tri-Meet
(Adrian, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars wrestling team earned their thiird head to head victory this season in dual matches, but were unable to take both victories on the table, as they split defeated the host Siena Heights Saints, and fell to the Cornerstone Golden Eagles Tuesday evening.
In the Match vs. Siena Heights:
- Jordan Piercy, Kevin Spoelman, and Tyler Garone all earned victories by forfeit to earn 6 points each for Cleary
- Jace Ellis earned a pin after 5:00 of action
- Zander Bradsher and Jacob Spiess were each defeated, as they both suffered pins in their matches.
Cleary earned a 24-18 victory over the Saints
In the Match vs. Cornerstone:
- Alex Roberts earned the full 6 points after he won his match via forfeit
- Jace Ellis earned his second victory of the day, this time earning a 14-4 victory for a major decision
- Jacob Spiess earned a 8-2 victory for a 3 point decision
- Jordan Piercy was defeated in 4:28 by a pin
- Zander Bradsher was defeated in 4:15 by a pin

Cornerstone originally defeated Cleary 36-13 in this match, but played an ineligible wrestler, and therefore had to forfeit. Cleary won the match 1-0 vs. the Golden Eagles.
Cleary is now 4-2 in dual matches this season. The Cougars will next be in action this Saturday, February 5, when they participate in the Whizzer Open hosted by Henry Ford College. The action gets underway at 10:00 AM.
