Hoelscher Earns All-WHAC as Track & Field Competes at WHAC Championships; Awards Announced
(Fort Wayne, IN)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's track and field teams were in Ft. Wayne Thursday and Friday to compete in the WHAC Championship meet.
In the Men's Meet:
- In the 100 M, Simbarashe Mazarura ran an11.93 andfinished in 28th place
- Jameson Watson ran a 24.34 in the 200 M to finish in 25th, while Preston Mackenzie ran a 26.00 to finish in 29th
- With a time of 54.08 in the 400 M, Jameson Watson finished in 21st, and Preston Mackenzie finished in 25th with a time of 59.12
- Logan Betke would claim 35th inthe 800 M after running 2:43.56
- Hunter Anderson would run a 4:38.25 in the 1500 M to finish in 20th, while Jose Domecq finished in 21st with a 4:44.35
- In the 5000 M, Noah Blondke finished in 16:17.17 to finish in 22nd, and Ben Iobe finished in 29th with a 16:41.77
- Jumping 6.39 M in the long jump was Simbarashe Mazarura, who finished in 12th. Rodrick Campbell jumped 5.68 M to finish in 21st
- Earning 4th place in the shot put was Ryan Kincaid, who threw 13.80 M, and earned 5 team points. Robert Karageorge threw 9.98 M to finish in 19th
- Robert Karageorge would throw the discus 35.66 M to finish in 14th. Logan Rogers threw 34.23 M, and Derrick Murray threw 30.49 M to finish in 16th and 21st respectively
- Derrick Murray earned 2 team points in the hammer, with a throw of 42.68 M and finishing in 7th. Logan Rogers earned 1 team point after finishing in 8th place with a throw of 41.84 M. Robert Karageorge finished in 17th, while Hunter Blackhurst finished in 19th
- With a throw of 46.29 M in the javelin was Rodrick Campbell, who finished in 4th place, earning 5 team points. Luke St. Ledger threw 37.74 M to finish in 11th
As a team, Cleary earned 13 team points to finish in 9th place overall
In the Women's Meet:
- Adisyn Pierce would run a 1:08.70 in the 400 M to finishin 21st
- In the 800 M, Rylie Bjorkman ran 2:33.30 to finish in 22nd, while Kiera Smith finished in 29th with a 3:08.43
- In the 100 M Hurdles, Samantha Hoelscher would run a 15.84 to finish in 12th place
- After running a 1:03.62 in the 400 M hurdles, Samantha Hoelscher would earn 2nd place, and was named Second-Team All-WHAC for the event
- Lily Daugard would finish in 6th place in the shot put with a throw of 12.21 M, earning 3 team points
- In the hammer, Lily Daugard threw 42.85 M to claim 4th place, earning 5 team points
- In the javelin, Amelia Jason would throw 21.82 M to finish in 16th. Lily Daugard threw 19.08 M to finish in 19th
As a team, Cleary earned 16 team points, and finished in 7th place
Preston Mackenzie and Samantha Hoelscher were named as Cleary's representative to the Champions of Character team, which demonstrates the NAIA's core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. They joins their counterparts from each team in the WHAC on the Champions of Character team.
Also recognized were student-athletes who were named to the All-Academic Team. To be honored, student-athletes must have had at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have attended Cleary for at least one full year. They were (in alphabetical order):
