Simpson, Beeney, and Hoelscher Place at WHAC Track and Field Meet; Season Awards Announced
(Adrian, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's track and field teams were in Adrian Thursday and Friday to compete in the WHAC Championship meet.
In the Men's Meet:
- In the 100 M, Jacob Chouinard ran 11.73 to finish in 21st. Simbarashe Mazarura ran 12.06, while Matt Booth ran a 12.18 to finish in 24th and 25th
- Luke St. Ledger earned a 15th place finish in the 110 M hurdles with a time of 17.20
- Matt Booth ran a 17.20 in the 200 M to finish in 22nd
- With a time of 52.36, Donovan White finished in 21st in the 400 M
- Luke St. Ledger ran a 1:04.63 in the 400 M hurdles to finish in 14th
- In the 800 M, Donovan White ran a 2:04.75 to finish in 26th. Mason Wildie ran a 2:25.14 to finish in 38th
- Finishing in 22nd in the 1500 M was Preston Mackenzie, who ran a 4:29.78. Devin Mackenzie ran a 4:57.05 to finish in 28th, while Ethan Lewis and Logan Betke finished in 30th and 31st
- Hunter Anderson would earn a 28th place finish in the 5000 M with a time of 17:45.53. Joel Hartleb ran a 17:53.81 to finish in 29th
- In the discus, Noah Simpson threw 41.11 M to finish in 12th. Tyree Jones threw 37.45 M and finished in 18th. Logan Rogers finished in 25th, Ryan Kincaid in 28th, and Jacob Haley in 30th
- Logan Rogers threw 40.88 M in the hammer to finish in 19th. Jacob Haley threw 31.45 M to finish in 26th, while Ryan Kincaid and Hunter Blackhurst finished in 27th and 28th
- In the javelin, Noah Simpson WON with a throw of 59.59 M, earning First-Team All-WHAC and QUALIFYING for the NAIA meet. Tyree Jones threw 37.59 M and Rodrick Campbell threw 36.58 M to finish in 20th and 21st
- Simbarashe Mazarura jumped 6.47 M in the long jump to finish in 13th. Jacob Chouinard finished in 15th, while Rodrick Campbell finished in 20th
- Ryan Kincaid would earn a 13th place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.53 M. Logan Rogers threw 11.31 M to finish in 21st.
- The 4 x 100 M relay team of Jacob Chouinard, Nathan Vaske, Rodrick Campbell, and Simbarashe Mazarura ran a 45.67 to finish in 4th place
- The 4 x 400 M relay team of Donovan White, Camden Staples, Jacob Chouinard, and Preston Mackenzie rna a 3:35.08 to finish in 8th place
- The 4 x 800 M relay team of Donovan White, Hunter Anderson, Preston Mackenzie, and Camden Staples ran a 8:30.76 and finished in 7th place
As a team, Cleary earned 18 team points to finish in 8th place overall
In the Women's Meet:
- Samantha Hoelscher finished in 10th place in the 100 M hurdles with a time of 15.86
- Earning a 9th place finish in the 400 M was Samantha Hoelscher, who ran a 59.19
- After running a 1:02.22 in the 400 M hurdles, Samantha Hoelscher would earn 2nd place, and was named Second-Team All-WHAC for the event
- In the 800 M, Rylie Bjorkman ran a 2:41.61 to finish in 26th. Kiera Smith finished in 35th with a time of 3:06.14
- In the discus, Carlee Beeney threw 39.94 M to finish in 2nd place, and was named Second-Team All-WHAC for the event. Sydney McCaig threw 29.97 M and finished in 19th, while Amelia Jason threw 27.25 M to finish in 23rd
- Finishing in 20th place in the hammer was Carlee Beeney, who threw 34.77 M. Amelia Jason threw 26.66 M and finished in 26th
- In the javelin, Sydney McCaig threw 23.17 M to finish in 19th. Amelia Jason finished in 23rd with a throw of 19.50M
- Samantha Hoelscher jumped 4.90 M in the long jump to finish in 19th place
- After throwing 11.62 M in the shot put, Carlee Beeney earned a 7th place finish. Sydney McCaig threw 9.96 M to finish in 19th
As a team, Cleary earned 18 team points, and finished in 7th place
Devin Mackenzie and Samantha Hoelscher were named as Cleary's representative to the Champions of Character team, which demonstrates the NAIA's core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Hawkins joins his counterparts from each team in the WHAC on the Champions of Character team.
Also recognized were student-athletes who were named to the All-Academic Team. To be honored, student-athletes must have had at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have attended Cleary for at least one full year. They were (in alphabetical order):
