Seman and Parinello Lead the Way in WHAC Baseball Season Awards
(Howell, MI)-- The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has announced the All-Conference teams and postseason awards, and multiple Cougars have been recognized.
After being named First-Team All-Conference last season, Brendan Seman would do it a second straight time, to become the first Cleary baseball player to ever be named First-Team All-Conference for multiple seasons. Seman, a senior from Sterling Heights, would finish the season with a 7-1 record, a 2.24 ERA, with 62 strikeouts in 56.1 innings pitched. In league play, he had a ridiculous 1.77 ERA (1st) with a 6-0 record (2nd) with 42 strikeouts (7th), and a 1.08 WHIP (13th). Not just a pitcher, Seman would hit .403 on the season with 73 hits, both school records, while scoring 52 runs, and had 39 RBI. He had a school record 27 extra base hits. In league play, he finished with a .425 average (8th), 45 hits (4th), 35 runs (12th), and 16 extra base hits (T-6th). A true two-way player, Seman would also earn recognition for his defense, and was named a Gold Glove winner for his defensive play. He is the third Cougar all-time to earn a Gold Glove.
Named Second-Team All-Conference was Joey Parinello. Parinello, a senior from Richmond, finished the season with a .381 batting average, 5 home runs, 32 RBI, and 16 runs scored. Against WHAC opponents he hit .414 with a .707 slugging percentage, had 16 RBI, and 11 extra base hits, including 3 home runs.
Parker Davis was named as Cleary's representative to the Champions of Character team, which demonstrates the NAIA's core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. He joins his counterparts from each team in the WHAC on the Champions of Character team.
