(June 7, 2017 - Howell, Mich.) -- Johnny Schiavi can list lacrosse among his many interests and the one that allowed him to earn a scholarship at Cleary University. But Schiavi is a man of many talents and being actively involved in his community is a focal point that will serve him well while at Cleary and beyond after graduation.

A 2017 graduate from Walled Lake Western, Schiavi was a four-year member of the lacrosse program, earning the Defensive MVP award his sophomore season as part of the junior varsity.

In addition to lacrosse, Schiavi played two years of varsity football as well as being a four-year member of the band as a percussionist.

Schiavi can also list being a member of National Honor Society and Link Crew as two of his other areas of involvement, as well as a program called Upstanders - where students are nominated by teachers and serve other students as tutors.

Schiavi has three brothers - one of whom played four seasons of lacrosse at Lawrence Tech - and one sister.

"I chose Cleary because I believe it was the best option for me as I can continue my lacrosse career as well as pursue my major (Business Management)," he said. "Of the other schools I considered, this was the best for me."
