(June 7, 2017 - Howell, Mich.) -- Cleary baseball coach Karl Kling was looking to add more speed, experience and versatlity for the 2018 season and was able to find someone with all three after signing Daniel Ammons, who played for Schoolcraft College in 2016 after a season at Madonna University.

"Daniel has the experience we seek and can play multiple positions as well as pitch, which gives us even more depth as we look to build on this past year's success," Kling said. "I can see him contributing several spots in the infield and with his ability to pitch, he will either be a valuable reliever for us or could potentially secure a starting spot as well."

Ammons played his freshman season at Madonna in Livonia where he was a pitcher only for the Crusaders. Prior to college, Ammons played three seasons for the varsity at Westland John Glenn High School, where as a junior he was named All-State Second Team.

Ammons is the son of Ferlin and Amy Ammons. His brother Derrick passed away three years ago.

Why Cleary for Ammons?

"I knew it was a good school for my major (Business Management) and the baseball program is really good too, so it was really a perfect fit for me," he said.
